BioWare Pulls Back the Curtain on Anthem’s Story
The Monitor harnesses the power of the Anthem.
During The Game Awards, BioWare unveiled their latest trailer, giving players a deeper look into the world and story behind Anthem. A low, gravely voice greets the audience, “I have seen the power of the Anthem destroy entire civilizations.” We are shown Haluk and Faye speak about the Heart of Rage, a Shaper Storm that has been raging for a long while. We also see a group of Freelancers rallying to their Javelins as they launch from the platform at Tarsis, going head first into battle. We get a glimpse at some enemies that we will be facing, including the Ash Titan, Ursix, and the new Fury, a Dominion controlled beast with a lanky figure, but definitely tough as it casts aside a group of Sentinels in one fell swoop.
Near the end of the trailer, we are shown that the narrator is actually the villain, who we know to be The Monitor, an individual in the Dominion with an army at his back to try and control the Anthem of Creation and subjugate mankind to “…end all this needless suffering.”
This trailer really gives us a good sense as to who our antagonist is going to be, as well as setting up a bit of world building for players that may have been worried that the story would be taking a side seat to the looter shooter aspects.
We have everything Anthem related linked or posted below, from the trailer to Sarah Schachner’s performance of a new track in Anthem.
